Requirements:

  • Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering candidates should have at least a bachelor’s degree
  • Biology and Chemistry candidates should have a PhD or equivalent
  • Registered to practice before the USPTO

PATENT ASSISTANT POSITION

Caldwell Intellectual Property is seeking a Patent Assistant to support their dynamic, growing practice in Boston, MA. Duties include:

  • Supporting our patent practitioners in docket and practice management
  • Preparing all necessary documents for U.S. and international patent and trademark filing and prosecution, including preparation of PTO forms, Information Disclosure Statements, etc.
  • Electronic filing of patent and trademark documents in the USPTO, including U.S. utility and design patent applications, PCT applications, trademark applications, and Office Action responses of all types
  • Create, edit, format, and produce documents on Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe
  • Managing new client intake and opening of matters
  • Performing a variety of patent support and administrative tasks as needed
  • Communicating with clients and foreign associates throughout application’ s prosecution

Requirements:

  • High school graduate, preferably bachelor’s degree or accredited paralegal certificate
  • At least 1-2 years of experience as a patent legal assistant or patent paralegal at a law firm
  • Exceptional ability to understand regulations and think analytically
  • Experience in patent prosecution procedures, including patent document preparation and electronic filing process is preferred
  • Working experience/competency in trademark prosecution is a plus
  • Affable personality, strong work ethic, strong problem solving skills, and accountable with solid written and verbal communication skills and sound judgement
  • Organized, meticulous, and analytical and
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, USPTO systems (EFS, PAIR and TESS), and other legal productively software
