Overview

John is skilled in patent and trademark prosecution. As a registered patent attorney, John advises individuals and businesses on intellectual property (IP) strategy and helps them build their IP portfolios. John also provides legal advice concerning open source software licensing and strategy matters.

Experience

Prior to joining Caldwell Intellectual Property, John was an attorney with an IP law firm in Massachusetts and also worked as an independent IP consultant.

Prior to practicing law, John acquired technical experience as a software and hardware engineer in the defense, R&D, data networking and telecommunications sectors. John consulted for and/or held senior engineering positions in various Fortune 500 companies, and in small/start-up data networking and telecommunications companies.

John’s experience enables him to draft domestic and foreign patent applications across a wide range of technology areas. These areas include computer systems, software development platforms/languages/toolchains, data and cyber security, cellular and satellite communications, telecommunications systems, electronic circuits, image processing, building management systems, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, metrology, medical devices, semiconductor device manufacturing, x-ray microscopy and optical imaging systems, in examples.
