Attorney Pat Fitch leads the firm’s licensing and litigation practice, helping clients maximize the value of their Intellectual Property while minimizing the risks posed by the IP of others.

Pat helps the inventors and innovative companies design and execute licensing programs. He represents clients in commercial, patent, and trade secret litigation in U.S. state and federal courts and before the U.S. International Trade Commission. Pat also coordinates global strategies for cross-border litigation and IP licensing campaigns and advises clients in the purchase and sale of IP assets.

Pat advises clients based on his unique combination of experience as outside counsel in some of this century’s largest global patent disputes and as in-house counsel creating licensing and litigation programs for one of the world’s largest patentees.  Pat began his career in the International Trade Commission practice at Alston & Bird LLP as part of the small team that later established the Washington, DC office of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP.  As outside counsel, Pat has represented complainants, respondents, and third parties in more than forty Section 337 patent infringement investigations at the ITC, including more than a dozen trials.  Pat participated in nearly every front of the global smartphone patent wars, but also had the privilege of working with technologies as diverse as opaque polymers, integrated circuits, RFID, and black powder rifles.

Pat later joined Intellectual Ventures as a director of patent litigation, where he oversaw the development and deployment of global licensing and litigation programs out of a portfolio of more than 30,000 IP assets.  Pat then served as the head of litigation for North America at Chinese technology conglomerate LeEco before returning to private practice as a partner at Warren Lex LLP.  While at Warren Lex, Pat served on the trial team that earned a courthouse record $49.3 million trial verdict in July 2019 for Viasat Inc. after a five-week trial for breach of contract and trade secret misappropriation.
