Caldwell congratulates long-time client Jay Jacobs, whose company, RAPID, was recently acquired by ProtoLabs for $120 million. RAPID is a sheet metal manufacturer providing quick turnaround e-commerce enabled prototyping services to their clients operating out of a 140,000 sq ft facility located in Nashua, NH. ProtoLabs specializes in 3D printing services to advance clients product prototyping. This acquisition expands their machining competencies to include sheet metal fabrication. “Culturally, ProtoLabs and RAPID have a very similar purpose and mission, which is to help our customers get their ideas to market faster through rapid services. We are excited to be joining forces with a leader in digital manufacturing,” said RAPID founder Jay Jacobs in a recent interview with the Nashua Patch.

Dr. Keegan Caldwell, managing member of Caldwell, a Boston based law firm, started working with Jay 5 years ago in different capacities related to RAPID’s patent portfolio. Keegan and Micah Drayton, ESQ, Caldwell’s Patent Attorney, began to develop the patent portfolio in the area of rapid prototyping that helped start the acquisition talks.
