Katherine Rubino Invited to Innovations in Digital Healthcare
We’re delighted that Partner and Patent Attorney, Katherine Rubino, will speak at the Life Sciences Patent Network (LSPN) San Francisco Conference on November, 1 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Katherine Rubino has significant experience in helping high-growth pharmaceutical and biotech companies to develop and monetize intellectual property strategies worldwide. She regularly advises life science companies on a broad range of transactions, including technology licensing, strategic partnerships, research and development, and intellectual property ownership. Providing counsel to companies of all sizes, ranging from start-ups to unicorns and publicly traded entities, Rubino is known for her experience of developing monetization strategies, conducting IP due diligence, negotiating licensing rights, using intellectual property to secure debt and equity-based loans, generating revenue through collaborations, and determining patent value.
Mukund Sharma (Speaker)
Senior Lead Counsel, Align Technology
Mukund Sharma is senior lead counsel, patents, at Align Technology. He focuses on patent prosecution, due diligence, litigation support, and commercial transaction support for the company’s medical device, polymer science, manufacturing and software portfolios. He was previously an associate at the Palo Alto Office of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton, an assistant federal public defender in the Capital Habeas Unit for the District of Nevada, and a software engineer at Unisys. He obtained a law degree from UC Hastings Law School, and bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering and mathematics from UC Irvine.
John Ashley (Speaker)
CEO, DurVena Inc
John Ashley is a serial entrepreneur with over 30 years in the medical device industry. After completing his bachelor’s and master’s in mechanical engineering at MIT, he started his career at Abbott Labs and moved on to Medtronic. Ashley is now the CEO of DurVena Inc., a Mass General spinout, and continues to serve as a strategic advisor to ROM Technologies. Ashley also serves as an expert witness in IP, liability, and contract cases. He enjoys not only the challenge of developing new technologies to address unmet clinical needs, but also structuring the entity, corporate processes, intellectual property strategy, and culture to create a highly effective enterprise.
BC Moore (Speaker)
Director, Global Intellectual Property, Illumina
BC Moore is director, global intellectual property at Illumina, where he directs IP strategy for Illumina’s clinical genomics products, including NIPT and oncology solutions. He manages a team of IP attorneys experienced in the software and bioinformatics space and provides IP support for M&A due diligence, working with product development teams to advise on IP landscape and clearance, and to identify and protect innovations during development. He also provides strategic direction and manages global prosecution of a portfolio of in-licensed and Illumina-owned patents in the NIPT and oncology spaces.
