Overview

Oliver is an Associate at Caldwell. His practice covers different areas of patent practice, with a focus on patent prosecution and strategic counseling relating to patent prosecution. Highlights of his role include:

  • Specializing in patent prosecution, patent application drafting, and patent portfolio development in a range of technologies including computer science-based technologies, such as software, mobile applications, networking, and developing technologies in artificial intelligence and machine learning and mechanical technologies, including mechanical components for a large tools and equipment company and manufacturers in the automobile industry
  • Focusing on developing a close relationship with clients to understand the clients’ business and goals and tailoring important IP decisions based on the specific needs of each client
  • Assessing patentability and developing patent protection strategies for business growth and success
  • Assisting with Patent Trial and Appeal Board Procedures, including interferences, reexamination proceedings, inter partes reviews (IPR), post-grant reviews, ex parte appeals, and other proceedings before the PTAB

Experience

Prior to joining the firm, Oliver worked at two international law firms where he represented many kinds of clients from start-ups to well-known companies in different technologies mentioned above.

Oliver earned his J.D. from the University of New Hampshire School of Law while focusing on patent law. Before law school, Oliver received his Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University in Indiana. In his spare time, Oliver enjoys staying active by playing volleyball and golf and spending time with his wife, new daughter, and dog.
