Overview
Steve is an Associate and assists with:
- Preparation and prosecution of foreign and domestic patent applications
- Patent portfolio management
- Assessing patentability and developing patent protection strategies for business growth and success
- Assisting with Patent Trial and Appeal Board Procedures including interferences, reexamination proceedings, inter partes reviews (IPR), post-grant reviews, ex parte appeals, and other proceedings before the PTAB
Experience
Prior to joining the firm, Steve worked at a boutique Intellectual Property law firm in Boston as a registered patent attorney with a focus on the preparation and prosecution of U.S. patent applications for both domestic and foreign clients from start-ups to large corporations in different industries including software, fintech, medical device, sports equipment, mechanical device, and electronics. He has an extensive and multidisciplinary science background in Biology, Mathematics, Information System Technology, Digital Image Processing, RADAR, LiDAR, optical sensors, and satellite technology.
Steve earned his J.D. from Suffolk University in Boston. Prior to law school, he received his Master’s degrees from Boston University and his Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a minor degree in Mathematics from the State University of New York at New Paltz. As a graduate student and a research fellow, he was involved in a number of research projects funded by NASA, USGS, and ESA to study the optical, Near Infrared, Shortwave Infrared, and Thermal Infrared bands onboard several civilian satellite programs including Landsat, MODIS, and Sentinel-2. Steve was also a summer research fellow at the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future. In addition, he taught both undergraduate and graduate level courses as a teaching fellow at Boston University.
